Canadas Shocking Elimination from World Championship 2025 Quarterfinals at the Hands of Denmark

Today, May 22, Denmark and Sweden are hosting another game day of the 2025 Ice Hockey World Championship. The quarterfinal match featured the national teams of Canada and Denmark, with Denmark emerging victorious with a score of 2-1.

The first two periods saw no goals scored by either team.

It wasn’t until the sixth minute of the third period that Travis Sanheim, assisted by Sidney Crosby and Travis Konecny, found the net for the first goal of the game. In the 18th minute of the same period, Nikolaj Ehlers equalized the score with a goal set up by Marcus Lauridsen. Just 49 seconds before the end of the period, Nick Olesen clinched the victory for Denmark with a goal assisted by Niklas Jensen.

In Group A, Canada topped the standings, followed by Sweden in second place and Finland in third. Austria finished in fourth. Meanwhile, Group B was led by Switzerland, with the United States in second and the Czech Republic in third, while Denmark secured the fourth position.
