Bungie Lifts NDA: Alpha Test Participants of Marathon Can Now Share Content

Next week, closed alpha testing for the team-based extraction shooter Marathon will commence. Originally, Bungie had planned to keep the testing under an NDA, preventing players from sharing recordings, streaming, and so forth. However, the studio later changed its mind.

According to a message from Bungie, communication between the community and the developers is essential for refining the shooter. As a result, the restriction on publishing materials from the «alpha» has been lifted. Test participants are now free to express their thoughts, stream, and share content.

The testing phase will be relatively small, as developers aim to assess technical capabilities and the core gameplay loop first. “We plan to break everything,” said the developers. They also noted that the alpha version does not represent the final product of Marathon. Not all implants and weapons are included, the interface is not complete, and animations and graphics are still in a developing state, among other things. Only four out of the planned six runners will be available.

The closed alpha of Marathon is set to launch on April 23 and will run until May 4. Invitations have already started to be sent out. It’s important to note that only players from North America who are over 18 years old will be allowed to participate. The release of Marathon is scheduled for September 23, with full Russian localization on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
