The cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has announced the appointment of Oliver Stauber as the new CEO of Bitget EU. The company is gearing up to operate under the MiCA regulation and plans to establish its headquarters in Vienna, according to a press release.

Stauber brings a wealth of experience in the regulation of digital assets and financial services. Prior to joining Bitget, he served as the CEO of KuCoin EU Holding GmbH in Vienna. He also held the position of CLO at Bitpanda, where he was responsible for legal, regulatory, and compliance functions, as well as licensing and engagement with supervisory authorities across multiple jurisdictions.

«Oliver’s appointment reinforces our confidence in Bitget’s long-term commitment to Europe. His task is to build a scalable and compliant regional platform that safeguards users and earns the trust of regulators through transparency,» stated Bitget CEO Gracy Chen.

The Austrian hub will serve as the operational center for compliance, corporate governance, and coordination of supervisory activities within the EEA. The headquarters will facilitate interactions with regulators and ensure compliance with local requirements.

«MiCA is transforming how services related to digital assets should be regulated in Europe. Our headquarters in Vienna will allow us to establish a regulated and scalable infrastructure to serve users in the EEA,» Stauber remarked.

The Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA or MiCAR) is a regulation of the European Union that sets unified rules for cryptocurrency companies. The document introduces requirements for corporate governance, user protection, and operational resilience.

Previously, Bitget published a white paper outlining the Universal Exchange model. This document details the architecture, roadmap, and industry standards for integrating cryptocurrency and traditional markets.
