The world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, has been awarded the ISO/IEC 42001 certification, which is the international standard for artificial intelligence management systems. This information was shared in the company’s blog.

The certification was issued by A-LIGN, a respected organization accredited by the National Accreditation Board ANSI.

«This highlights our commitment to the ethical, transparent, and secure integration of artificial intelligence across all our operations,» the company noted.

ISO/IEC 42001 establishes the requirements for an artificial intelligence management system and assists organizations in responsibly overseeing the technology.

«In Binance, the certification affirms the robustness of the framework we’ve established for the proper use of AI. By utilizing this framework throughout the entire lifecycle of large language models (LLM), we enhance the safety, reliability, and accountability of our systems, ensuring compliance with new regulations such as the EU Artificial Intelligence Act,» the exchange stated in its blog.

The certification «ensures» that AI tools are used responsibly and in accordance with international standards.

«ISO/IEC 42001 validates the integrity of the framework we’ve built around responsible AI. […] In practice, this means ensuring our artificial intelligence behaves as intended, even as it becomes more complex,» commented Binance’s Chief Security Officer Jimmy Su.

The blog emphasizes that the unified approach to responsible innovation under ISO/IEC 42001 is «easily integrated» with existing ISO certifications: ISO 27001 for security, ISO 27701 for privacy, and ISO 22301 for business continuity.

«Achieving ISO/IEC 42001 reflects Binance’s strong dedication to responsible innovation. Along with the recent acquisition of a license from the Abu Dhabi regulator, it underscores the management and oversight standards we are establishing at a global level. As AI technologies evolve, we will continue to uphold the highest levels of transparency and user protection to foster trust in the Web3 industry,» remarked the company’s co-CEO Richard Teng.

Binance’s Chief Data Protection Officer Barry Young emphasized that the exchange has become one of the few organizations in the world to hold ISO certifications in security, privacy, and AI management simultaneously.

The responsible use of artificial intelligence serves as «the cornerstone of the company’s future development in finance,» the blog states.

As a reminder, in 2025, Binance recorded an influx of $1.17 trillion, marking a historic high among crypto exchanges.

In December, the platform reached the milestone of 300 million registered users.
