BestChange Faces Another Blockade in Russia: Legal Team Works on Resolution

On the evening of April 18, Roskomnadzor once again blocked the domains of the cryptocurrency exchange aggregator BestChange within the Russian Federation. This was announced by the service’s team in their Telegram channel.

The block affected BestChange.ru, BestChange.com, and BestChange.net, while monitoring operations continue.

Project representatives found that their website URLs and associated IP addresses were not listed in the official registry of Roskomnadzor, leading to some providers still allowing access to select domains from within Russia.

The agency sent a notification regarding the block, but the developers did not receive any prior warning. BestChange suspects that the Central Bank of Russia may have initiated this action.

“It seems to be yet another mistake by ordinary employees of the regulator, who prepare lists of online resources providing banking services without a license for subsequent extrajudicial blocking,” the service’s representatives stated.

The project’s lawyers are already working on resolving the issue.

“The unblocking process may take two to three weeks, as soon as our lawyers manage to get in touch with the regulator and they acknowledge the erroneous nature of the block,” noted BestChange.

In the past, the service has faced multiple blocks by Roskomnadzor. In February, access to the aggregator’s site was restricted following a similar complaint from the central bank, but those restrictions were lifted after 10 days.

Previously, BestChange reported the possibility of a «targeted discreditation campaign» against the service, which included attacks on the project’s websites and the dissemination of false information.
