Netflix Leverages AI to Revolutionize Scene Creation in New Series

Netflix has begun integrating artificial intelligence into its films and series. This was announced by co-CEO Ted Sarandos during a conference call discussing the quarterly results, according to TechCrunch.

For the first time on the platform, a «final cut created by generative AI» has been introduced, specifically in the Argentine series El Eternauta.

The internal production team collaborated with producers to use AI in crafting a building collapse scene, completing the task ten times faster than conventional visual effects tools, significantly reducing costs.

«We remain convinced that AI presents an incredible opportunity to assist creators in making films and series not only more affordably but also of higher quality. AI-based tools enhance the capabilities of writers. […] They are already experiencing benefits during pre-production stages, including scene planning, pre-visualization, and certainly in visual effects. Previously, only high-budget projects could afford sophisticated VFX, such as de-aging,» he stated.

Co-CEO Greg Peters also mentioned that Netflix is utilizing generative AI in other areas, including personalization and advertising.

Recall that in May, the company unveiled a new search feature powered by generative artificial intelligence from OpenAI.
