DuckDuckGo Introduces AI Image Filtering for Enhanced Search Privacy

The privacy-focused browser DuckDuckGo has introduced a feature that allows users to filter AI-generated images from search results.

This tool was implemented in response to user feedback expressing frustration with AI-generated pictures while searching for relevant illustrations.

After conducting a search, users can enable or disable the display of AI content in the «Images» tab.

This feature has emerged amid the widespread presence of AI-generated images online. The filter relies on manually curated blocklists, which include lists from uBlockOrigin and uBlacklist Huge AI Blocklist.

“Although it does not guarantee 100% effectiveness, it significantly reduces the presence of such images,” DuckDuckGo stated.

Looking ahead, the search engine plans to introduce additional filters.

It is worth noting that AI startups are attempting to reclaim some of the search market from Google by offering their own browsers and encouraging users to move away from Chrome.
