Mercedes-Benz Introduces Microsoft Teams Camera Feature for Driving Safety

Certain Mercedes-Benz vehicles will feature the ability to join Microsoft Teams video calls, allowing drivers to use the car’s camera for communicating with colleagues while on the road.

To ensure safety, specific precautions are in place for drivers; for instance, they can share a live video feed of their driving without being able to view shared screens or slides while the vehicle is in motion.

Typically, video conferencing apps like Teams, Zoom, or WebEx operate only when the car is parked, but the new Mercedes-Benz functionality will automatically disable video streams when the vehicle starts moving. Other meeting participants will still be able to see the video feed from the camera as the driver drives.

Support for Microsoft Teams camera integration in vehicles will debut this summer in the new CLA model.

Microsoft and Mercedes-Benz are also collaborating on incorporating Microsoft 365 Copilot into «the latest vehicles.» This will allow drivers to manage their emails and daily tasks using voice commands.

Although Mercedes-Benz specifically mentions the CLA model, the latest E-Class vehicles from the manufacturer also include a selfie camera for applications like TikTok and Zoom. It is likely that this feature will be introduced in other vehicles powered by MB.OS.

Previously, the Mercedes-AMG brand unveiled an electric sedan equipped with simulated gear-shift sounds and synthesized V8 engine noises.
