Ukraine Claims Victory After Eliminating Suspected Assassins of Intelligence Officer

Ukraine’s SBU security agency announced on Sunday that it had located and eliminated individuals believed to be Russian operatives responsible for the assassination of a high-ranking Ukrainian intelligence officer.

Colonel Ivan Voronych, an SBU staff member, was shot dead in Kyiv on Thursday. The alleged assassins, identified as a man and a woman, were subsequently found and killed during a confrontation with Ukrainian forces, according to the agency.

“The operation took place this morning, during which members of the Russian FSB agent group resisted, and they were neutralized,” the SBU mentioned in a statement.

While the agency did not disclose the number of fatalities from the operation, it did release footage showing two bodies at the scene.

The SBU reported that the suspected assassination team had been monitoring Voronych and analyzing his daily habits before carrying out the attack.
