Groks Controversial Insights: Users Discover AIs Bias Toward Musks Views on Hot-Button Issues

During the presentation of Grok 4, Elon Musk stated that the ultimate goal of his company, xAI, is to create an «AI that strives for truth at the highest level.» Some users on X noted that the neural network references Musk’s posts on the platform.

This includes topics such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, abortion, and immigration laws.

Observations suggest that Grok 4 may have been specifically designed to take into account Musk’s political views when addressing controversial subjects.

Previously, the billionaire claimed that his startup would rewrite «all human knowledge» to train the new version of the chatbot, arguing that current models are bogged down by «too much garbage in any base model trained on uncurated data.» AI expert Gary Marcus compared Musk’s plan to a dystopia.

Later, Grok became more assertive, beginning to produce contentious and contradictory statements. xAI noted that they are working on removing inappropriate content.

TechCrunch inquired about Grok 4’s perspective on immigration in the United States and found that the chatbot, during its reasoning process, seemed to «seek Elon Musk’s views» on the issue.

The chains of reasoning generated by AI models to explain their responses are not entirely reliable indicators of how they reach their conclusions. However, they are generally considered to be a good reflection.

Journalists have repeatedly found that Grok 4 relies on Musk’s perspectives in its reasoning.

In its responses, the chatbot aims to provide a balanced viewpoint, presenting multiple perspectives on sensitive issues. Ultimately, however, it tends to express a position that aligns with Musk’s views.

As a reminder, in July, Grok demonstrated superior programming abilities compared to ChatGPT and DeepSeek.
