Sergeev Calls NHL-KHL Comparisons Unfair, Prefers Not to Chase After NHL

Russian defenseman from the Utah Mammoths, **Mikhail Sergachev**, stated that comparing the NHL and KHL is not fair.

«The NHL is a league that has been around for over a century. It operates in a completely different country. Personally, I wouldn’t even attempt to compare these leagues. In fact, I’ll go a step further — I wouldn’t even pursue the NHL,» Sergachev was quoted by Odds.

The NHL was established in 1917, while the KHL held its inaugural season in 2008.

At 27 years old, Sergachev has been with Utah since June 2024. Previously, he played for the Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he won the Stanley Cup twice (in 2020 and 2021). During the last season, he participated in 77 games for Utah, scoring 15 goals and providing 38 assists.
