Former Nigerian Goalkeeper Peter Rufai Passes Away at 61

Former Nigerian goalkeeper **Peter Rufai** has passed away at the age of 61. This was reported by ESPN Africa on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). He was a champion of the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994.

Throughout his career, Rufai played for several European clubs in Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal. Notably, he made nine appearances for Deportivo.

Rufai represented the Nigerian national team at two World Cups, first in the USA in 1994 and then in France in 1998. Over his time with the Super Eagles, he played a total of 66 matches, during which he scored a penalty goal in a qualifying match for the Africa Cup against Ethiopia.
