Challenges in Signing IndyCar Champion Alex Palou for F1 Teams Explained by Williams James Vowles

The head of Williams, James Vowles, spoke about the challenges teams might face when trying to sign three-time IndyCar champion Alex Palou.

“Palou is incredibly fast and he was on our radar. However, there are two significant issues. Given his track record, he wouldn’t come at a low cost. I believe you’d have to expect a price tag above $5 million. Palou would need to follow the same program as Kimi Antonelli and Oliver Bearman, which involved 10,000 kilometers in older Formula 1 cars.

This implies he would have to take a year off and fully dedicate himself to training. I can hardly imagine he would want to do that, considering his current standing,” Vowles stated, according to Motorsport Week.
