Pljushev: Lokomotiv Has International Coaching Experience, Yet No Significant Titles

The former head coach of the Russian national team, Vladimir Plyushchev, shared his thoughts on the departure of coach Igor Nikitin from Yaroslavl’s «Lokomotiv.» The club is currently in search of a new head coach.

«Lokomotiv is losing key players, which complicates discussions about their chances of defending the title, especially since it’s unclear who will take over as coach. There have been talks about bringing in foreign specialists. Lokomotiv has experience with overseas coaches, but I don’t recall them achieving any significant victories. Regardless, there’s still a lack of concrete information, so it’s hard to make any decisive comments,” Plyushchev said, as quoted by «VseProSport.»

It’s worth noting that last season, Nikitin led «Lokomotiv» to victory in the Gagarin Cup. He is set to take the helm at CSKA next season.
