DeepSeeks AI Initiative Seeks Interns to Transform Chinas Healthcare System

The Chinese project DeepSeek has begun recruiting interns to label medical data with the aim of enhancing the use of artificial intelligence in hospitals. This has been reported by SCMP, citing job listings on the platform Boss Zhipin.

According to the job advertisements, the company is offering 500 yuan ($70) per day for individuals willing to label medical data, including «advanced auxiliary diagnostics,» for four days a week. The position is based in Beijing.

Applicants are required to be in their fourth year of medical studies or hold a master’s degree. They must also have experience working with large language models, be proficient in Python coding, and know how to create prompts for AI models.

This initiative is a response to the fact that Chinese hospitals are utilizing DeepSeek’s AI models for diagnosis and prescription purposes. As of March, over 300 medical institutions in the country have started to employ the firm’s technology for clinical diagnostics and decision support.

In May, a group of researchers issued a warning about the potential risks associated with AI concerning safety and privacy. Experts noted that DeepSeek’s tendency to produce «plausible yet factually incorrect results» could pose a «significant clinical risk.»

The job description states that interns will assist in improving AI model knowledge and reducing hallucinations in medical Q&A.

As a reminder, in May, the Chinese startup DeepSeek updated its reasoning model R1. Its «distilled» version is capable of operating on a single graphics card.
