Splay Unveils Portable 35-Inch Foldable Screen That Fits in Your Backpack and Operates On Its Own

A Texas startup, Splay, has unveiled the Splay Max, a 35-inch foldable display that resembles a softbox. When folded, the device, along with its case, measures less than 30 cm in length and 10 cm in thickness, making it easy to fit into a backpack or bag.

The Splay Max unfolds like a tent to create a screen. It can be placed on a table (with the option of using a tripod) or mounted on a wall. According to the startup, this screen can be utilized “in hotel rooms, vans, conference halls, or even in your backyard.” The device weighs only 1.6 kg.

Equipped with a built-in projector, it displays images on a specially designed white fabric, with a resolution of Full HD (1920×1080) and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The device automatically adjusts to correct any screen distortions. Developers emphasize that the projection emits up to 70% less harmful blue light to minimize eye strain, and it also eliminates glare. The Splay Max features stereo speakers along with USB-C and HDMI ports. Thanks to its integrated battery, the device can operate for up to 5 hours on a single charge.

Currently, pre-orders for the device are open on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, with prices starting at $744 (approximately 58,000 rubles). The product is expected to be available for sale in November 2025.
