Sony Unveils Project Defiant: The First Wireless Arcade Controller for PS5 and PC

Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed the Project Defiant arcade controller, which is compatible with both PlayStation consoles and PCs thanks to PlayStation Link technology.

According to the manufacturer, PS Link offers an «ultra-low latency» connection, ensuring precise responsiveness for button presses and joystick movements. Additionally, the controller can also be connected via a USB-C cable.

Project Defiant features a digital joystick developed by SIE, mechanical switch buttons, and a touchpad similar to that of the DualSense controller. It also provides three types of joystick restrictors: square, circular, and octagonal.

Included with the Project Defiant is a carrying case designed with an opening for the joystick to ensure safe transport, as noted by SIE. The controller is set to launch in 2026, with the manufacturer promising to share further details about the device in the coming months.

The debut of Project Defiant is likely aligned with the release of the fighting game Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, which PlayStation Studios is developing in collaboration with Arc System Works and Marvel Games. The game is scheduled to launch on PS5 and PC next year.
