Russian Billionaires Surge: $22.5 Billion Increase in Wealth Since January 2025

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Russian billionaires have collectively seen an increase of $22.5 billion since the beginning of the year.

The list of the 500 wealthiest individuals globally features 22 Russians, whose total wealth amounted to $317.7 billion as of Monday.

Vladimir Potanin, a tycoon in the metals industry, continues to be the richest person in Russia. His net worth has risen by $3.82 billion this year to reach $31.7 billion.

Next is Vagit Alekperov, the founder of Lukoil, whose wealth increased by $561 million, bringing his total to $25.9 billion. In third place, mining magnate Vladimir Lisin holds a net worth of $24.2 billion, despite experiencing a $1.62 billion decline over the past five months.

The only Russian billionaire who suffered a greater loss than Lisin is Dmitry Rybolovlev, the fertilizer magnate and owner of AS Monaco, whose wealth decreased by $1.77 billion to hit $9.21 billion, placing him among the bottom five.

Tatiana Kim, the richest woman in Russia, lost $597 million, ranking 21st with a net worth of $6.77 billion, just ahead of Iskander Makhmudov, a metals tycoon whose wealth capped off the list at $6.74 billion.

Makhmudov saw a notable increase of $3.61 billion, making him one of the top gainers after Potanin and Alisher Usmanov, whose net worth increased by $3.7 billion to $16.9 billion, solidifying his position as the seventh richest individual in Russia.

Senator Suleiman Kerimov added $3 billion to his fortune, bringing it to $10 billion and placing him 15th. Industrialist Viktor Vekselberg saw a rise of $2.25 billion, resulting in a total of $9.54 billion, while tech entrepreneur Pavel Durov gained $2.03 billion, ranking 10th with a net worth of $13 billion.

Alongside Potanin, Alekperov, and Lisin, the top five wealthiest Russians also includes Leonid Mikhelson, chairman of Novatek, whose fortune grew by $860 million to $23.2 billion, and industrialist Alexei Mordashov, who lost $598 million, bringing his worth to $22.6 billion.
