Bitmain Unveils Antminer S23 Hydro: Game-Changing Bitcoin Miner with 9.5 J/TH Efficiency

Bitmain has unveiled its flagship model from the latest series of Bitcoin miners, the Antminer S23 Hydro, which boasts an energy efficiency of 9.5 J/TH.

This hydro-cooled device delivers a hashrate of 580 TH/s while consuming 5.51 kW of power.

During the WDMS 2025 summit, Bitmain’s mining president, Irene Gao, presented the company’s strategy to navigate the current downturn in equipment demand, as reported by TheMinerMag.

The company is offering buyers flexible payment options, including an installment plan with a 40% upfront payment, followed by two equal installments of 30% each, as well as the possibility of securing loans with Bitcoin collateral for up to six months.

Early buyers can obtain the units for $30 per TH/s, or $25.5 with a 15% discount. Sales are set to commence on May 28, with the first deliveries anticipated in the first quarter of 2026.

In March, Bitmain’s competitor, Bitdeer, announced successful tests of its SEAL03 mining chip, which achieved an energy efficiency of 9.7 J/TH. Production of the SEALMINER A3 units based on this chip is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter, with an expected efficiency rating of 11-12 J/TH.

Additionally, Bitdeer launched an updated version of its SEALMINER A2 Pro in March, which provides an efficiency of 14.9 J/TH.

According to the Hashrate Index, prices for next-generation ASIC miners with energy consumption ratios not exceeding 19 J/TH have recently been hovering just above $17 per TH/s.

It’s worth noting that Bitdeer ramped up its development of mining chips following a $100 million investment from Tether in May 2024. Subsequently, the company acquired FreeChain Inc (Desiweminer), a chip developer.
