Former Khimki Director Ivanov Praises Players for Resilience Amid Teams Turmoil

The former CEO of the Moscow region’s «Khimki,» Vasiliy Ivanov, shared his thoughts on the current situation surrounding the team. There had previously been reports suggesting that «Khimki» had gone bankrupt and would cease to exist.

«The situation with ‘Khimki’ was to be expected. Every year brought some difficulties and debts. It was only a matter of time before this happened. It’s disappointing that the team finished the season in 12th place but won’t be able to compete in the RPL. The status regarding the First League remains uncertain as well. If they didn’t qualify for RFU-1, securing a spot in RFU-2 will also be challenging.

I don’t think the players will struggle to find new jobs. They deserve credit for not giving up and finishing the season under such circumstances. They understood that their professional careers would continue regardless of what happens with the club,» Ivanov said in an interview with Championship correspondent Maria Kutsubaeva.
