Trumps Gala Dinner Sparks Outcry for Guest List Transparency Amid Allegations of Political Influence Peddling

Democrats have accused U.S. President Donald Trump of establishing a channel for selling political influence through cryptocurrencies, as reported by The Block.

The controversy arose from a private dinner for 220 top holders of the memecoin TRUMP, which President Trump hosted at his golf club in Virginia. Attendees were treated to steak, halibut, and chocolate desserts, with tables adorned with banners bearing the slogan “Fight Fight Fight,” referencing the token’s issuing company.

Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal stated that the Trump administration is concealing the guest list, which may include representatives from foreign nations:

“He is selling out America. This endangers national security.”

Lawmaker Elizabeth Warren described the event as a “backdoor for buying political decisions,” suggesting that China or Russia might use tokens to exert influence over the White House.

The administration declined to release the guest list, maintaining that the dinner was a personal initiative of Trump and not an official event.

Confirmed attendees include TRON founder Justin Sun, Magic Eden CEO Jack Lu, and BitMart head Sheldon Xia.

Footage from the event shows guests receiving black gift bags, and Sun was presented with a $100,000 gold watch from Trump.

Around 100 protesters gathered at the club entrance with signs reading “Crypto Corruption” and “Democracy is Not for Sale.”

Simultaneously, Congresswoman Maxine Waters introduced a bill to prohibit government officials from issuing cryptocurrencies, labeling TRUMP as a “scam” and a threat to national security.

Previously, a similar initiative was proposed by Sam Liccardo, who called for restrictions on Congress members and their families regarding cryptocurrency activities.

Skybridge founder Anthony Scaramucci acknowledged the president’s contributions to the development of digital asset regulations in an interview with CNBC but criticized the event.

According to NBC, the cost to attend the dinner ranged from $55,000 to $37.7 million.

It’s important to note that TRUMP purchaser Morten Christensen and four friends secured invitations to the gala dinner with President Trump after spending about $1,200 for a seat.
