Rumor: First DLC for Assassin’s Creed Shadows Set to Release in September or October

According to insider Tom Henderson, Ubisoft is set to release the Assassin’s Creed Shadows – Claws of Awaji expansion in September of this year. Henderson’s sources suggest that the DLC could be postponed until October, depending on Ubisoft’s decisions and release strategy.

This expansion will transport players to an entirely new location—the island of Awaji, where Naoe and Yasuke will encounter a new faction of bandits known as the Sanzu Ippa and unravel the mystery of a long-lost treasure. According to Ubisoft, Claws of Awaji will offer over ten hours of narrative content, along with new perks, abilities, and weapons. Additionally, Naoe will receive a traditional bo staff. The DLC will be available for free to anyone who pre-orders any version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. For others, it will be released as a separate paid addition, with the exact price yet to be announced.

Moreover, as per Henderson’s sources, the upcoming cooperative mode for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, codenamed LEAGUE, is still in development and is expected to launch next year. It is likely that players will have the option to play as characters other than Naoe and Yasuke.

Regarding other projects within the Assassin’s Creed franchise, including a new multiplayer endeavor for 18 players codenamed Invictus and a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag under the codename Obsidian, it has been reported that both titles are currently under development. Final release dates will depend on a new strategy from Ubisoft, which has not yet been communicated to employees.

As a reminder, Ubisoft promises regular free updates for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Among the planned enhancements are new quests, collaborations with other projects, and quality-of-life improvements: additional parkour moves, a «New Game+» mode with a higher character level cap, extra difficulty settings for stealth and combat, and the ability to wear helmets and hoods during cutscenes.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect), Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5, and includes text translation in Russian.
