Microsoft Teams Introduces Screenshot Prevention Feature to Protect Sensitive Information During Meetings

Microsoft is currently developing a new feature for Teams that will prevent users from taking screenshots of sensitive information shared during meetings.

Participants joining from unsupported platforms will automatically be switched to «audio-only» mode to protect the content being shared.

The company aims to roll out this feature globally for Android, desktop, iOS, and web users in July 2025.

According to Microsoft, the “Screenshot Prevention” feature ensures that if a user tries to take a screenshot, the meeting window will turn black, thereby safeguarding confidential information.

However, even with screenshot functionality blocked, confidential media and information can still be captured through photography.

In June, the company will release an update for screen management privileges in Teams rooms on Windows, interactive agents for BizChat/Copilot Studio during meetings and individual calls, and a Copilot feature for creating audio summaries of transcribed meetings.

On the evening of May 5, Microsoft released an update for the mobile version and desktop systems, effectively discontinuing the Skype messenger and transitioning users to Teams Free. For users who attempt to download the Skype app again, it is now unavailable, and they can only move to the Microsoft Teams service.
