Developer Zerebros Faked Suicide Causes Controversial Memecoin Surge

The founder of Zerebro, Jeffy Yu, was found alive in his parents’ home three days after a video was released depicting his supposed «suicide.» This was reported by the publication San Francisco Standard.

The fake death of the 22-year-old creator of Legacoin (LLJEFFY) triggered a staggering 2115% increase in the meme coin’s value, bringing its market capitalization to $105 million.

Earlier reports claimed that he had taken his own life during a livestream on Pump.fun on May 4.

Although the video was taken down, a pre-scheduled post containing Yu’s reflections on fame and Legacoin soon surfaced, generating significant excitement: within 24 hours, the price of LLJEFFY soared 20-fold.

The collapse began when investors detected activity in the developer’s wallet, which continued to purchase tokens even after his «death.»

In just one hour, the market cap plummeted from $105 million to $13.8 million. As of the time of writing, that figure stands at $1.8 million, according to DEX Screener.

On May 7, reporters from the San Francisco Standard found Yu at his parents’ residence. The developer claimed he had been a victim of harassment and asked the reporter to leave:

«Do you see the post-traumatic stress disorder in my eyes? Now my parents will have to move.»

Officials from the coroner’s office in San Francisco and San Mateo confirmed that no deaths involving individuals with the last name Yu had been recorded since April 2.

A memorial notice on Legacy.com, where he was referred to as a «Stanford wunderkind» who developed the Zerebro ecosystem valued at $800 million, was later removed.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that in November 2024, Pump.fun halted live broadcasts on the platform, while in April 2025, streaming was reopened to all users.
