Embracing the Journey: Mirra Andreyeva on Anticipation and the Road to Success

The seventh-ranked tennis player in the world, Russian athlete Mirra Andreeva, shared her perspective on her journey to success in tournaments.

— Have your expectations of yourself and the pressure you place on yourself changed? You are still young, and there is much ahead of you. Have you started to feel any urgency to achieve things more quickly?
— Of course, I wish some things would happen sooner. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean they will. I have to work diligently for that. I strive to put in the effort and do everything within my power. Sometimes it works out, and sometimes it doesn’t. I’m not going to put unnecessary pressure on myself to win a tournament this year because I know there’s still plenty of time ahead. I believe that if I keep working hard, whether it’s in a year, five years, or ten, I will achieve my goals. You can never predict how life will unfold, so for now, I’ll focus on enjoying the journey and see how things develop, – conveyed Andreeva’s thoughts to «Championat» correspondent Daniil Salnikov.

This season, Andreeva has made it into the top 10 of the WTA rankings and has won two major tournaments, clinching victories in Dubai and Indian Wells.
