Notcoin Declares the End of Tap-to-Earn Games as Developers Shift to Engaging Web3 Projects

The **tap-to-earn** genre has run its course, as developers of **Web3** games shift their focus to more engaging and intricate projects. This was stated by Notcoin co-founder Vladimir Plotvinov in a conversation with **Cointelegraph**.

He believes that «tap-to-earn» games have failed to sustain user interest.

«We will witness a variety of game types emerge, as clickers are likely already dead due to their lack of viability,» Plotvinov added.

Another co-founder of Notcoin, Alexander Plotvinov, explained that following the hype around Telegram gaming, users have gradually begun to transition to other earning opportunities after they have «exhausted» the potential of tap-to-earn games.

«The motivation for users who come to farm is simply to earn something. With games, it becomes more about entertainment; I want to play with friends and in groups,» he continued.

However, a member of the Notcoin team noted that the initial wave of Telegram games failed to create a significant social impact but still played a crucial role in the expansion of Web3.

Currently, gamified projects on the messaging platform are moving away from mere token farming, emphasized Alexander Plotvinov. Instead, coins are becoming just an «addition» to the games.

According to Notcoin’s co-founder, Telegram does not yet have any «real games,» but their emergence is possible in the future.

When asked about the continued growth of the gaming industry within the messenger, Ulyana Salo, head of design and product at NotGames, remarked that the Telegram market resembles Facebook and WeChat, which have their own gaming ecosystems.

At present, Telegram’s gaming industry lacks major publishers and investors, but it anticipates exponential growth.

Recall that in December 2024, Notcoin introduced the Earn launchpool platform, allowing users to earn rewards for holding tokens in their Wallet.
