Ukraine Initiates Urgent Evacuation of Seven Villages Amid Russian Threat

On Tuesday, Ukraine mandated the evacuation of seven villages in the eastern Dnipropetrovsk region, which had previously been far from the conflict but now faces danger as Russian troops move closer.

Russian forces have been attempting to penetrate this area from the adjacent Donetsk region but have yet to achieve success, despite more than three years of intense fighting.

The local military administration stated that it was implementing «the mandatory evacuation of frontline areas within the Synelnykove district.»

«This includes three villages in the Novopavlivka community and four others in the Mezhivska community,» they added.

Novopavlivka, situated roughly 10 kilometers (six miles) from the front line, had a pre-war population of 3,500, but it has dwindled to around 100 individuals now, including two children, according to officials.

«Mykola Lukashuk, the head of the local military administration, mentioned on Telegram that there are presently no Russian occupation forces in Dnipropetrovsk, emphasizing that the Ukrainian military is protecting the area.

On Sunday, regional Governor Serhiy Lysak reported that a Russian drone strike in Novopavlivka resulted in one death.

The regional government had previously ordered the evacuation of families with children from villages located east of Mezhivska, which is also within 10 kilometers of the active front line.

Ukraine frequently issues mandates for the forced evacuation of civilians from regions near the combat zone.

Recently, Russia has intensified its aerial bombardment of Ukraine as it continues its advance along the front and amidst efforts from the United States to negotiate a ceasefire between the conflicting parties.
