Devastating Missile Attack in President Zelenskys Hometown Leaves Four Dead and Many Injured

A Russian ballistic missile attack claimed the lives of at least four individuals and left 17 others injured in Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, on Wednesday, according to local officials.

This missile strike followed a nighttime barrage of drones on the Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions, which resulted in one fatality and at least seven injuries, as reported by authorities.

The head of Kryvyi Rih’s military administration, Oleksandr Vikul, stated that Russia targeted civilian facilities with a ballistic missile, igniting a significant fire, and rescue efforts were underway.

«Currently, it has been confirmed that this attack has tragically taken four civilian lives,» Zelensky noted in a social media post.

«The only remedy to halt this violence is to apply substantial pressure on Moscow and the Russian regime, compelling them to abandon their aggression and acts of terror,» he added.

According to Dnipropetrovsk regional Governor Serhiy Lysak, 11 of the 17 injured individuals are still hospitalized, as mentioned on his Telegram account.

An unverified video circulating on social media depicted smoke and flames emerging from a damaged industrial site, with debris scattered around the area.

Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed it intercepted and destroyed 23 Ukrainian drones overnight on Wednesday, primarily over the regions of Bryansk, Oryol, and Kursk.

Aerial assaults have intensified between Russia and Ukraine, even as U.S. President Donald Trump encourages both nations to reach a ceasefire after more than three years of intense conflict.

Elsewhere, a 45-year-old man lost his life when a Russian drone strike targeted parked vehicles outside a residence in Zaporizhzhia, as reported by Ivan Federov, the head of the regional military administration, on Telegram early Wednesday.

In Kharkiv, five individuals sustained injuries from drone attacks, as stated by Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv regional state administration.

An AFP reporter observed firefighters working to extinguish a building engulfed in flames in Kharkiv, with thick black smoke billowing from its windows.
