Nintendos Ambitious Plan: A Trilogy of The Legend of Zelda Movies in the Works

Recently, Nintendo announced the official release date for the first film adaptation of the The Legend of Zelda franchise, which will be directed by Wes Ball. Following this announcement, notable insider Daniel Richtman provided additional details, who is known for sharing reliable information regarding projects from Marvel and DC. According to him, Nintendo is not just planning a single film, but an entire trilogy.

Richtman claims that Nintendo and Sony Pictures are conducting auditions until August 2025, looking for actors to fill lead roles, with contracts expected to cover all three films from the start. It is likely that the films will be produced simultaneously, as there are intentions to release the entire trilogy within six years.

Another noteworthy piece of information surfaced on the site of the Alliance for the Film and Television Industry. The page for the first film indicates that filming is set to commence in New Zealand on November 4th of this year and conclude on April 7, 2026.

The released synopsis is quite standard for the The Legend of Zelda series, detailing the journey of the brave warrior Link, who is destined to save the kingdom of Hyrule from the dark forces of the ruthless warlord Ganon. The villain seeks to acquire the powerful Triforce, which grants unlimited power. To thwart him, Link must embark on a perilous quest, battle monsters, explore treacherous dungeons, solve complex puzzles, and gather artifacts that will aid him in his adventure.

As of now, there are no official details available about the film, despite the project’s announcement back in November 2023. The premiere of the The Legend of Zelda adaptation is scheduled for March 26, 2027.
