SBF Transferred to Transit Center Following Interview with Tucker Carlson

The founder of FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), has been transferred to a federal transit center in Oklahoma City.

According to the Wall Street Journal, this relocation began on March 26, following an unauthorized video interview with Tucker Carlson conducted from his jail cell in Brooklyn.

During the interview, SBF asserted that he believes his sentencing was unjust. He contended that FTX could currently possess “$100 billion in assets against $15 billion in liabilities” if not for the collapse.

The interview likely influenced the decision to move him. His family has been actively seeking a reduction in his sentence, and the interview was part of their efforts.

Bankman-Fried’s transfer is part of the final adjustment of his incarceration status. He is now located in a transit facility, which acts as a temporary holding point before inmates are transferred to permanent correctional institutions.

The former head of FTX will await assignment to a main prison, which is expected to be in California, near his parents’ home. His projected release date is set for November 17, 2044.

It’s worth noting that on February 20, Bankman-Fried stated again that at the time of the collapse, the exchange was solvent but illiquid. He also reached out to U.S. President Donald Trump requesting a pardon.
