Is Killzone Still Relevant? Insights from the Series Composer

The iconic series **Killzone**, once seen as Sony’s response to **Halo**, has been in obscurity for over a decade. Composer of the franchise, **Joris de Man**, shared his thoughts on a possible revival of the legendary shooter in a conversation with VideoGamer.

«I’m aware that fans have created petitions asking for **Killzone** to return,» **de Man** noted. «However, the matter is quite complex.»

In his view, a remaster of the classic titles could be well-received, but a new installment remains a contentious topic.

The last entry in the series, **Killzone: Shadow Fall**, launched in 2013 as one of the launch titles for PlayStation 4. Since then, **Guerrilla Games** has completely shifted its focus to **Horizon**, a vibrant and commercially successful franchise. As the art director of the studio, **Roy Postma**, revealed in an interview last October, the team felt the need to «refresh their palette,» ultimately deciding on a project that stands in stark contrast to **Killzone**.
