Cronos: The New Dawn — A Dark Journey Inspired by Dead Space and Dark Souls from Bloober Team

Bloober Team, renowned for their recent remake of Silent Hill 2, continues to maintain their momentum by thrilling horror fans with two major announcements. This time, the developers have revealed new details about their upcoming title, Cronos: The New Dawn, while also unveiling an entirely new game— I Hate This Place, a survival horror experience set in an open world.

For more on the latter title, check out our dedicated coverage of Future Game Show announcements, but let’s delve into more about Cronos: The New Dawn below.

In this new horror title, players will step into the shoes of a “Traveler” who navigates between a post-apocalyptic future and 1980s Poland to rescue individuals affected by a mysterious event known as “The Change.” In an alternative timeline of the Cronos universe, the wasteland is inhabited by monsters referred to as “Orphans”—the remnants of humanity.

The developers also shared that they drew inspiration from works such as John Carpenter’s “The Thing,” the series “Dark,” as well as games like Dead Space and Dark Souls. Players can expect a chilling atmosphere, elements of body horror, and challenging encounters with monsters. The Orphans can take on various forms, each with its unique traits. In a light-hearted manner, Bloober teased about features like flesh walls, the ability to punch monsters, “something akin to” flamethrowers, dismemberment, “maybe” aliens, and, of course, a fondness for ladders.

Whether gamers will embrace Cronos: The New Dawn remains to be seen, but it will be revealed later this year. The game is set to launch on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, with a text translation available in Russian.
