Kojima Reflects on Player Frustration Over MGS V: Ground Zeroes as a Demo

Hideo «Genius» Kojima reminisced about the mixed reactions gamers had towards Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Kojima acknowledged that players were taken aback by the game’s brief duration.

“Are you selling a demo, even at a lower price?” – such comments still resonate in his memory. Ground Zeroes, intended as a prologue to The Phantom Pain, lasted only a couple of hours and was priced at $30, which understandably sparked a wave of criticism at the time.

Currently, Kojima is focused on several projects, including the upcoming delivery simulator set in a post-apocalyptic world, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, scheduled for release on June 26. He is also working on a horror game in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios called OD, although details about it are scarce. Meanwhile, the Metal Gear series is set to receive a remake of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater on August 28.
