MegaETH Unveils Public Testnet Boasting 20,000 TPS Capacity

The L2 Ethereum project, MegaETH, has launched a public testnet boasting an impressive throughput of 20,000 transactions per second (TPS).

At the time of writing, around 30 applications are operational on the testnet, including those from trading platform GTE and the prediction market Guess.Best.

According to the MegaETH team, the network has successfully achieved a block processing time of 10 milliseconds, which is 25 times faster than the 250 milliseconds of the fastest rollup, Arbitrum.

Following the implementation of a proprietary parallelization mechanism, developers aim to reach a throughput of 100,000 TPS—an aspirational target for Ethereum’s Layer 1, as suggested by Vitalik Buterin in 2021.

It’s worth noting that in March, experts from Santiment reported a decline in optimism regarding Ethereum.
