Semak Discusses Wendells Penalty for Disqualification Ahead of Spartak Match

The head coach of Saint Petersburg’s Zenit, **Sergey Semak**, addressed the question regarding the fine imposed on midfielder **Wendel** due to his suspension before the match against Moscow’s Spartak (1:2) in the 21st round of the Russian Premier League for the 2024/2025 season. Wendel was suspended following the 20th round match against Fakel (2:0), during which he made an inappropriate gesture and was sent off.

“The matter of a fine for Wendel should be directed to the club’s management. From an emotional standpoint, everyone in the team understands that players may struggle to keep their composure,” said Semak, as reported by Championship correspondent Elvira Bagirova.

After 21 rounds of the RPL, Zenit sits in third place in the standings with 43 points. In the next round, Sergey Semak’s team will face Kazan’s Rubin, with the match scheduled for March 30 at 19:30 MSK.
