Devastation in Eastern Ukraine: Russian Bombardments Claim Two Lives Amid Largest Drone Assault

Russian airstrikes in eastern Ukraine resulted in the deaths of two individuals overnight, as reported by local officials on Thursday. This incident came as Moscow initiated a significant drone assault that left 10 people injured and ignited fires hundreds of kilometers away from the frontline.

Authorities from Ukraine’s northeastern regions of Sumy and Kharkiv indicated that Russia unleashed over three dozen glide bombs on towns near the border, resulting in two fatalities and several injuries.

In the central town of Kropyvnytsky, a Russian drone attack injured 10 people, among them four children, and set residential structures on fire, according to Kirovohrad region Governor Andriy Raikovych. The state railway service of Ukraine reported disruptions in the area due to this attack.

«This is the kind of ceasefire we get from Putin. Russia takes pleasure in assaulting civilians,» remarked presidential advisor Andriy Yermak on social media.

Ukraine’s air force stated that Russia deployed 171 drones in this recent assault, with defense systems successfully intercepting 75, while an additional 63 were downed due to electronic warfare measures or other factors.

In contrast, Russia asserted that its air defenses managed to intercept 132 Ukrainian drones across various regions.

Governor Roman Busargin of Saratov announced that the southern region and its city of Engels experienced «the largest drone attack to date,» which caused a fire at the Engels airbase.

The Russian Investigative Committee reported that the assault resulted in two injuries and inflicted damage on schools and a hospital.
