Russian Forces Claim Victory Over Ukrainian Assault in Belgorod Amid Ongoing Ceasefire Negotiations

On Tuesday evening, Russia’s military announced that it successfully thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian forces to attack the Belgorod region, characterizing the operation as an attempt to disrupt ceasefire negotiations between Moscow and Washington.

This announcement followed a phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which Putin consented to a 30-day cessation of attacks targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure but declined to agree to a more comprehensive ceasefire.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukraine sent as many as 200 troops to engage in the assault on Belgorod, accompanied by «five tanks, 16 armored personnel carriers, and three demolition vehicles.»

«The enemy executed a total of five attacks throughout the day,» the ministry noted, stressing that «no violations of the Russian Federation’s state border occurred.»

As of now, Ukraine has not issued any statements regarding the alleged attack.

Since the onset of the full-scale invasion, Russia has consistently accused Ukraine of conducting incursions into its border areas, including the Kursk region, where clashes have persisted since August.
