Alonso Calls for Redesign of Melbourne Turn After His DNF at Australian GP

Two-time Formula 1 champion and Spanish driver of Aston Martin, **[Fernando Alonso](https://www.example.com/tags/449-fernando-alonso/)**, has called for modifications to the configuration of Turn 6 at the Melbourne circuit following his retirement from the Australian Grand Prix.

«I took Turn 6 on the exact same line as before, but there was gravel, which caused me to lose control of the car. I believe the design of Turn 6 isn’t ideal since gravel can end up on the track. This has affected everyone.

I think it’s necessary to redesign this corner. We’ve had multiple damaged cars. In qualifying, Antonelli actually damaged the floor there. We shouldn’t have corners where gravel can spill onto the track. It’s a hazard for all drivers. So, this should be a top priority. I believe the turn needs some adjustments,» Alonso stated to RacingNews365.
