Hopetown Developers: You Dont Need to Be Disco Elysiums Creator to Achieve Greatness

While internal and external issues were unfolding at ZA/UM, four studios branched off from it. One of the newly formed teams is Longdue, which is working on a cRPG titled Hopetown. Today, a fundraising campaign has launched, along with an interview featuring technical director Piotr Sobolewski and creative director Grant Roberts.

It is worth noting that Sobolewski contributed to the development of gameplay mechanics for Disco Elysium, while Roberts has never worked at ZA/UM. Throughout his career, he’s been part of Bungie, Rocksteady, Splash Damage, and Sweet Baby Inc. For Hopetown, he serves as the narrative director. Below are some highlights from their conversation:

As for the Kickstarter campaign for Hopetown, supporters have nearly reached the production goal of £25,000. However, this is just one of the targets. Once the £50,000 mark is hit, composer Paweł Błaszczak, who previously worked on The Witcher and contributed to The Witcher 3, will compose additional music for Hopetown. Expanding the game’s content, writing a short story set in its universe, and publishing a physical art book will require more funding.

Here are some interesting facts from the team’s Q&A section:

Currently, Hopetown does not have a release date.
