xAI вводит ограничения на генерацию откровенных изображений в Grok для безопасности пользователей Translation: xAI imposes restrictions on the generation of explicit images in Grok for user safety.

Elon Musk’s startup xAI has restricted the capabilities of the Grok neural network on the X social media platform. Following a recent controversy, the developers disabled the function that allowed the generation of explicit images of real individuals.

The company is taking steps to eliminate CSAM content and nudity, as well as to address users who violate X’s policies. They will report anyone attempting to seek out such materials to law enforcement.

«We have implemented technological measures to prevent the editing of images of real people in revealing clothing, such as bikinis, in Grok accounts. This restriction applies to all users, including those with paid subscriptions,» the notification states.

The creation and editing of images through the Grok account on the X platform is now only available to premium users. With this change, xAI hopes to hold accountable those who misuse the chatbot’s capabilities.

The developers characterized the restriction as an addition to existing security protocols and announced plans to introduce further protective measures.

In early January, Grok found itself embroiled in yet another scandal due to its capacity to create images of naked real people and minors.

The British Internet Watch Foundation noted that its analysts discovered «criminal materials» involving children aged 11 to 13 that were allegedly generated using Grok.

Musk stated that he is not aware of any instances where the chatbot has been used to create images of naked minors.

«Clearly, Grok does not generate content spontaneously. It operates based on user prompts,» the entrepreneur emphasized.

According to him, the chatbot refuses to create illegal content. However, there could be incidents of «hostile hacking» leading to «unexpected outcomes.»

On January 11, the Malaysian regulator mandated temporary restrictions following «repeated failures by X Corp» to address risks associated with the AI service.

The day before, Indonesia suspended access to the chatbot over similar concerns and summoned company representatives for discussions.

Regulators in the EU, UK, Brazil, and India are demanding an investigation into Grok’s role in the distribution of deepfakes.

A coalition of 28 organizations focused on digital rights and the rights of women and children has called on the leaders of Apple and Google to take action and remove both X and the chatbot from their app stores.

It is worth noting that in January, Grok will be integrated with the Pentagon’s network alongside Google’s generative AI engine.
