ViaBTC временно ограничивает доступ к аккаунтам для защиты пользователей от мошенничества Translation: ViaBTC Temporarily Restricts Account Access to Protect Users from Fraud

According to their statements, in recent weeks, attackers have been persuading miners to connect to a pool through counterfeit addresses, intercepting their hashrate and earnings. In response, the ViaBTC team sent notifications to users, reminding them to use only the official site addresses.

To safeguard users, technical specialists temporarily restricted access to certain accounts that were potentially at risk.

“The locks and restrictions will be gradually lifted once we confirm that the threat has been completely eradicated. These measures are purely protective and are not linked to any other factors,” emphasized ViaBTC.

Representatives of the mining pool specifically noted that the documents requested from some users are solely for verification purposes to mitigate the risk of power interception, rather than part of standard verification protocols.

Some restrictions have already been lifted. The support service is operating at an increased capacity to restore access.

Comments from ViaBTC followed a surge of complaints from users, primarily from Russia, regarding unexpected account lockouts and requests to submit documentation.

Users reported that these lockouts often occurred when utilizing VPNs or changing pool addresses.

It is worth reminding that in October, the crypto exchange aggregator BestChange restricted ruble transactions for 95 services.
