Bases Flashblocks Technology Set to Boost Mainnet Performance by 10x with Lightning-Fast Block Creation

The L2 network Base has introduced the Flashblocks technology in its testnet, reducing block creation time from 2 seconds to 200 milliseconds. The project team announced this development at the ETHDenver 2025 conference.

The mainnet launch is anticipated in the second quarter of 2025.

Flashblocks enhances transaction processing speed by streaming pre-confirmed blocks every 200 milliseconds, thereby decreasing the likelihood of transaction cancellations.

This technology was developed in collaboration with Flashbots, a company renowned for its Ethereum solutions and work related to MEV. Previously, Flashblocks was implemented by the DEX Uniswap, cutting block time on the Unichain network to 0.25 seconds.

In addition, the Base team unveiled two more tools: Appchains and Smart Wallet Sub Accounts.

Appchains are customizable blockchains built on the L2 Base using the OP Stack. They operate as Layer 3 (L3) networks, providing dedicated block space for application scalability.

These Appchains allow for customization, including unique gas tokens and fee logic, and are specifically designed for high-load applications.

Smart Wallet Sub Accounts will enable users to manage multiple wallets through a single interface.

As a reminder, in January, the AI platform Venice AI, founded by Erik Vorhees, launched the VVV token on the Base network.
