Будущее криптоэкономики: Джесси Поллак о потенциале местных стейблкоинов Translation: The Future of Crypto Economy: Jesse Pollak on the Potential of Local Stablecoins

Tied to local payment systems, stablecoins remain a rarity, despite their potential to significantly transform crypto-economics. This was stated by the developer of Base, Jesse Pollak, during Token2049 in Singapore, as reported by The Block.

The expert pointed out that the digital economy is almost entirely denominated in US dollars today, which account for about 60% of global reserves. Many other currencies that hold significance in global finance are virtually absent in the crypto space.

The creator of Base emphasized that stablecoins linked to «local currencies» could simplify everyday financial transactions.

«If we integrate local payment methods into blockchain, people will be able to conduct transactions, take loans, and give credits in currencies they are familiar with,» he explained.

The expert revealed that in September 2025, Base processed approximately 81 million transactions involving stablecoins, which is equivalent to $1.5 trillion. He mentioned that the platform already supports the Indonesian rupiah, Turkish lira, New Zealand dollar, Brazilian real, and other currencies. Earlier, Coinbase and Base announced the launch of two new payment methods: the Australian and Singapore dollars.

Pollak also discussed the beta testing of the Base App. The platform integrates social networking, mini-apps, commerce, and instant payments, with a focus on the «create and earn» model.

According to the creator of Base, traditional Web2 platforms are unfair to content creators, taking about 95% of the value and leaving creators with less than 5%. In blockchain-based social networks, nearly all profits go to developers.

Currently, there are 1.2 million users registered on the Base App waitlist, the expert noted. The team plans to launch the app fully in the coming months.

«We’re still in the beta testing phase, but we are actively working on the release,» Pollak added.

Recall that in March, Base presented the Flashblocks technology and two new tools.
