Mike Novogratz, CEO of Galaxy Digital, was surprised that the token Ripple managed to endure the lawsuit filed by the SEC against the California-based blockchain firm. He shared this insight during a podcast with Kyle Shasse.

In December 2021, the regulator accused the company of selling $1.3 billion in unregistered securities in the form of XRP.

After years of legal proceedings, the court eventually approved the settlement agreed upon by the parties in August 2025.

Novogratz mentioned that he did not expect XRP to last this long.

The entrepreneur noted that he had previously regarded the Ripple token with disdain, partly due to its community, which he likened to a sect. Over time, he concluded that this could be said about the supporters of most successful cryptocurrencies. As an example, the head of Galaxy mentioned one of his employees who views Bitcoin as the meaning of life.

He highlighted the role of Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse in successfully resolving the legal dispute and maintaining the integrity of the community, which he described as «one of the strongest» in the industry.

According to Novogratz, XRP has turned out to be the best asset to invest in after November 2024, given its rally.

In July, the token’s price peaked at an all-time high of $3.65. At the time of this writing, XRP is trading 21% below that peak. Over the past year, its value has increased by more than 337% (CoinGecko).

It is worth noting that blockchain investigator ZachXBT compared the operational models of Ripple, Cardano, and Hedera to financial pyramid schemes.
