Las Vegas Police Force Welcomes 10 Tesla Cybertrucks to Enhance Patrol Capabilities

The Las Vegas Police Department has recently added ten electric Tesla Cybertrucks to its fleet. These electric vehicles will be utilized for patrol duties and by specialized units.

The department received the Cybertrucks as a donation from an anonymous benefactor. Sheriff Kevin McMahill stated that the vehicles will be customized to meet the needs of the officers. He mentioned that these electric cars will assist in enhancing the department’s ability to protect and serve using the latest technology.

There are speculations that the donation might be linked to Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, as reported by Electrek. Initially, the company had anticipated selling 500,000 Cybertrucks annually; however, demand later declined, and now they are striving to sell their remaining stock.

The Las Vegas police will employ the Cybertrucks alongside a fleet of drones that are connected to gunshot detection technology.

Last fall, the Irvine Police Department in California purchased a Cybertruck for $153,000, even though their officers do not plan to use the electric pickup for street patrols. Primarily, the vehicle is intended for educational purposes. Subsequently, the department faced criticism for what some viewed as excessive spending.

Previously, the first police Cybertruck was introduced in Dubai. In addition to the Tesla electric pickup, local law enforcement also operates several supercars, including Bugattis, Aston Martins, and Lamborghinis.
