Виталик Бутерин: PeerDAS изменит игру в масштабировании Ethereum Translation: Vitalik Buterin: PeerDAS Will Change the Game in Ethereum Scaling

Co-founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin has stated that the Peer Data Availability Sampling (PeerDAS) technology will be a vital component for scaling the network. It will be included in the upcoming Fusaka update.

PeerDAS will enable nodes to verify the availability of block data without having to download it in its entirety. The nodes will receive small fragments of data and utilize erasure coding to reconstruct the remaining information. Buterin described this method as unique.

For certain operations in the initial version of PeerDAS, complete data will still be required. However, only one honest node will be necessary, which will enhance the system’s resilience against attacks.

The discussion was sparked after analyst hildobby reported a record in the Ethereum network—six BLOBs per block. These data packages were introduced in the Dencun update to reduce transaction costs in L2 networks.

According to hildobby, the networks Base and World have become consumers of BLOB space. Together, these L2 solutions pay about $200,000 weekly in fees to the main network, although many BLOBs remain partially empty.

Buterin highlighted that the quantity of large binary data sets will be gradually increased to test the system. In the long run, even L1 transaction information could be moved to BLOBs.

It is worth noting that the Fusaka update for the Ethereum main network is scheduled for December 3.
