Anthropic анонсирует ИИ-агента для Chrome с функциями взаимодействия и безопасности Translation: Anthropic announces AI agent for Chrome with interaction and security features.

The AI startup Anthropic has introduced a Chrome extension for its AI agent based on the Claude model.

Initially, the digital assistant named Claude for Chrome is available to a group of 1,000 subscribers on the Max plan. A waiting list has been opened for other interested users.

By integrating the assistant into Chrome, users can interact with it through a sidebar window. The agent retains the context of everything happening in the browser and is capable of performing actions autonomously to complete certain tasks.

Browsers are emerging as a new battleground for AI laboratories, as they serve as the primary gateway to the internet. Previously, Perplexity launched its own AI-based solution called Comet. Additionally, the company proposed acquiring Chrome for $34.5 billion.

In April, OpenAI expressed interest in a similar acquisition. The developer of ChatGPT is also preparing to unveil its AI browser with functionality akin to Comet.

In a blog post, Anthropic warned that the increase in AI agents with browser access brings new security risks.

Earlier, the Brave team stated that the Comet agent could be vulnerable to indirect attacks like prompt injection, where hidden codes on websites can trick the virtual assistant into executing harmful instructions while processing a page. Claims suggest the flaw has already been addressed.

Users of Claude for Chrome can restrict the agent’s access to certain websites in their settings. By default, the service cannot interact with platforms offering financial services, adult content, or sites with pirated material.

Before undertaking «high-risk operations such as posting, purchasing, or transferring personal data,» the agent requests confirmation.

As a reminder, in August, Coinbase developers Kevi Leffew and Lincoln Moore stated that autonomous agents would become the largest active users of the second-largest cryptocurrency network by market capitalization.
