On August 4, the deliveries of the Seeker crypto smartphone by Solana Mobile officially commenced. The company has announced that the initial batches have already been dispatched to customers across 57 countries.

The number of pre-orders for the successor to the Saga has surpassed 150,000, which is expected to generate at least $67.5 million in revenue, with the device priced between $450 and $500.

The Seeker runs on the Android operating system and incorporates several blockchain features.

The smartphone is built on the TEEPIN architecture, which ensures decentralized access to the device and application distribution, utilizing cryptographic attestation to verify software authenticity and enhance security.

Solana Mobile also plans to integrate AI capabilities and DePin services into the Seeker.

The developers are marketing this new model as a more affordable option compared to the Saga, which launched at $1,000 in 2023. Due to disappointing sales figures—20,000 units—the company was forced to lower the price of the crypto smartphone to $599. Furthermore, the rapid uptake of the entire stock in the U.S. and Europe was aided by airdrops of two meme coins for device owners.

After the launch, CertiK analysts discovered a critical vulnerability in the Saga that could potentially allow for the theft of user cryptocurrencies. However, the developers have denied any security threat.

The Seeker has entered the market with a lower price point and an improved design, featuring a brighter 6.36-inch AMOLED display, 108+32 MP camera setup, and enhanced battery life tailored for Web3 applications.

Additionally, in March, Deutsche Telekom announced plans to release an AI smartphone powered by the Perplexity chatbot.
