Эрик Адамс: нет прибыли от NYC Token, и мы не манипулировали средствами инвесторов Translation: Eric Adams: No profit from NYC Token, and we did not manipulate investors funds.

A representative for former New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Todd Shapiro, stated that the politician did not receive any profits from the NYC Token.

“To be completely clear: Eric Adams did not move any investor funds. He also did not profit from the release of the NYC Token,” he wrote.

The «New York City Coin,» built on the Solana blockchain, launched on January 13. Within just 30 minutes of its debut, the token’s value plummeted by over 80%, from $0.47 to around $0.10.

Its market capitalization dropped from $500 million to $40 million at the time of writing.

The community has raised concerns regarding suspicious activity. Analysts from Bubblemaps noted a transfer of 80 million tokens to an address that provided liquidity on the decentralized exchange Meteora.

Later, the same wallet withdrew $2.5 million in USDC at the peak price, but after the subsequent 60% drop in prices, it returned only $1.5 million to the pool.

An on-chain researcher known as Rune suggested that investors could have lost up to $3.4 million related to the former mayor’s coin.

Shapiro attributed the asset’s sharp decline to «market volatility.» This statement contradicts earlier messages from the NYC Token team, which confirmed the transfers, citing «liquidity rebalancing» in response to high demand at launch.

The explanation from the ex-mayor’s representative failed to convince users.

Bubblemaps compared the situation to the launch of LIBRA, which was promoted on social media by Argentine President Javier Milei.

The project’s website still lacks clear information about its objectives. It describes the token as a “public cryptocurrency of New York,” symbolizing the city’s “real estate energy.”

In an interview with FOX Business, Adams mentioned that the NYC Token was intended to combat «anti-Americanism» and anti-Semitism, stating that all proceeds would go to non-profit organizations.

The coin is not affiliated with the city administration or any other governmental bodies, and it remains unclear who is behind the asset’s launch.

To recap, after being elected mayor in 2021, Adams claimed that he would receive his first three paychecks in Bitcoin. In May 2025, he promised to transform New York into the world’s crypto capital.
