Сэм Альтман рассказал о GPT-6: новые возможности и вызовы конфиденциальности Translation: Sam Altman reveals GPT-6: new possibilities and privacy challenges

OpenAI is developing a new model called GPT-6. This was announced by the startup’s CEO, Sam Altman, during a conversation with reporters.

Although the entrepreneur did not specify a release date, he indicated that the neural network «will be different» and will arrive faster than GPT-5 did after GPT-4. The model will not merely respond to users but will also adapt to them, enabling the creation of chatbots that take into account individual preferences.

Altman believes that memory is a crucial component for transforming ChatGPT into a personal tool. It is essential for the assistant to understand who is using it, along with their preferences, habits, and characteristics. This will allow the system to tailor itself for each user.

OpenAI is working closely with psychologists to develop the product.

However, the presence of memory raises privacy concerns, as the entrepreneur noted. These concerns are exacerbated by the fact that the temporary storage of information is not encrypted, making personal data potentially exposed. Altman acknowledged the possibility of implementing encryption in the future, but did not provide a timeline.

In July, he stated that private conversations with ChatGPT are not legally protected. If necessary, a court could request all information that users have shared with the chatbot.

Future versions of ChatGPT will comply with a recent mandate from the administration of President Donald Trump, which requires the creation of ideologically neutral AI systems with customizable features.

«I believe our product should maintain a fairly moderate, neutral stance, and then you will be able to adjust it however you wish. If you want it to be ‘super-progressive,’ it should be able to be that,» said the entrepreneur.

Altman shared his plans following a challenging launch of GPT-5, during which users complained that the model became colder, less responsive, and less useful.

Subsequently, OpenAI updated the communication style of the new neural network to make it «warmer.»

The CEO of OpenAI referred to neurointerfaces as a «cool idea» and noted that in the future, users might be able to simply think of a query and instantly receive a response from ChatGPT thanks to this technology.

Earlier, it was reported that OpenAI would participate in a funding round for Merge Labs—a competitor to Elon Musk’s Neuralink.

«There are several related fields to AI where we should do something. And this is one of them,» Altman said.

He is also interested in energy, new materials, robotics, and rapid construction methods for data centers. However, the main product of OpenAI remains ChatGPT, with the CEO focused on making the chatbot more versatile and useful in everyday life.

Notably, in August, Altman stated that the artificial intelligence market is in a bubble.
